walkTV

As walkmag online develops, we’re looking to build a channel of short walking programs produced by the experts. That’s you, by the way.

We've kicked off with our own efforts:

What are we looking for?

  • Short videos, preferably under three (3) minutes in length and no more than five (5) minutes.
  • Videos should be ‘produced’ to a certain degree. that is they should be edited, have a start point and introduction, a storyline or ‘angle’ and a finish. A mini-documentary, if you will.
  • Subject? Anything to do with walking, of course.

Maybe you’d like to make a doco on your favourite trail, or get all Jon Snow on us with a biting issues-based piece? Careful not to defame anyone!

Video CameraOr maybe you have a particular interest – waterfall walks perhaps, or the fate of dry stone walls?

Whatever it is, the trick is to film it carefully, edit it into a story and let us know.

WIN! Every six months, we’ll choose our favourite video and award a prize (to be announced).

Remember, you don’t have to have the fanciest of equipment – with a bit of skill you can use anything from your cameraphone or your stills camera with video facility to a more robust handycam recorder. The priority is the storytelling.

Coastal call

Of particular interest to us is the Ramblers’ coastal access campaign: so we are particularly looking for Scorsese wannabes who can compile a story that relates to that issue. Feel free to contact walk magazine’s editor to discuss your ideas.

Information on the coastal access issue can be found here:

I’ve produced my walk video. Now how do I enter it?

Convert into any common computer video format file (e.g. mpeg, avi, wmc etc.), burn on to a DVD and send to us at:
