Stand and deliver

photoAfter a six-month consultation period between researchers and travel bloggers, 100 of the World’s most wondrous, inspiring and thought-provoking locations have been put forward to be voted by the public as the Greatest Place To Stand On Planet Earth 2009. Voting begins now and the final winner will be announced at the start of December. The StoodThere site features dozens of far-flung locations from the UK and abroad, with wilder entries ranging from Merlin’s Cave (pictured) to Skara Brae in the Orkneys. Voters are encouraged to add a photo of themselves to the page if they have been to any of the locations – giving the competition a personal dimension.

The World 100 list seemed straightforward but there were a couple I have never come across before – a salt mine in Poland and a pedestrian crossing in Tokyo!!! Now there’s a short and fast walk.
The UK 100 list was far more interesting to me personally.
The TV section was basic, but certainly gave a feel for some of the locations.
