See Hadrian’s Wall light up

image001Did you know that this year is the 1,600th anniversary of the end of Roman rule in Britain? No? Us neither. But while we’re not over-excited about the occasion, the spectacular illumination of Hadrian’s Wall that’s planned sounds genuinely thrilling. On Saturday 13 March, 500 beacons will be lit at 250-metre intervals along the 134km/84-mile length of the World Heritage Site, highlighting Britain’s greatest Roman monument against the night sky.
