New long-distance paths
•A new circular, long-distance path has been created around the Mawddach Estuary in Snowdonia (pictured). The 50km/31-mile Mawddach Way, which starts and finishes at Barmouth, passes through woodland, pasture and open country in the shadow of Cader Idris. A guide, GPS data and short-walk options are downloadable from www.mawddachway.co.uk.
•The world’s first Fairtrade-accredited town, Garstang in the Lake District, has launched its own long-distance trail. The Fairtrade Way is a 128km/80-mile tour of other Fairtrade towns in North Lancashire and Cumbria and hopes to inspire more towns to join the global trade movement through mass organised walks. Visit www.garstangfairtrade.org.uk for more details.
•Finally, a new edition of the official guide to the 106km/66-mile Vanguard Way is available as a free download from www.vanguardway.org.uk.
