Historic Scottish access case abandoned

IMG_1836Ramblers Scotland is celebrating after a landmark access case finally came to a close, with the landowner abandoning his appeal to overturn a ruling allowing walkers, cyclists and horseriders over his 40-acre estate.

Euan Snowie was successfully challenged in the courts under the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 by Stirling Council and the Ramblers, after he denied public access to his Boquhan Estate, near Kippen, on grounds of privacy and security. Mr Snowie had sought to appeal the decision in the Court of Session in Edinburgh in January, but decided to drop the case and pay costs.

Well done the Ramblers,I,m sure footpaths across the estate will be respected and well posted. It will be in the interests of both parties to erect clear signs.
