Get Walking Keep Walking

home_lead_contentYou walk readers may be an active lot, but sadly not everyone shares our mutual enthusiasm for seeing the world on two feet. Ramblers’ new Big Lottery funded Get Walking Keep Walking website aims to help 150,000 people get walking to improve their physical and mental health over the next two years. The site is part of our pioneering Get Walking initiative, operating in four cities around England, which aims to help inactive people living in inner cities incorporate regular walking into their everyday lives.

The new Get Walking site is jam-packed with resources for people who are starting to walk more including:

• Get Walking Packs: A do-it-yourself version of the 12-week Get Walking programme. People can order the pack online and walk their way to better physical and mental health, wherever they are in the country.

• Routes: Short urban routes in Manchester, Birmingham, Sheffield and London at the click of a button.

• Expert advice: tips to get you and your family walking more.

So if you know anyone who could benefit from more walking, or just needs a little help getting started, point them to getwalking.org. As Simon Barnett,  Ramblers’ Head of Walking Programmes and Promotions comments, “Better physical and mental health is just a click of a button away.”
