DIY walking packs big hit

DIYpacksMore than 40,000 people have signed up for Get Walking Packs, the DIY guides to getting 30 minutes of activity, five times a week, provided by the Ramblers’ Get Walking Keep Walking project. The packs have also attracted interest from health organisations and mental health services, which are so impressed with the contents that they’re arranging extra supplies for their clients. The charity MDF Bipolar, for example, has signed up its entire network of self-help groups.

One pack recipient, Mustafa Isedu from Lewisham, London, wrote in to say: “At first I thought the pack was rubbish – I have severe arthritis and thought exercise was the worst thing I could do for it. But after taking an hour-long walk five times a week, I couldn’t believe the results: the pain from all over my body has gone. Thank you for giving me my normal, happy life back!”
