Compensation for good Samaritan

The founder of the Samaritans Way South West path has been awarded £500 compensation, after Somerset County Council requested Ordnance Survey remove the LDP from their maps without consultation. Graham Hoyle, who created the 160km/100-mile route said: “I spent 17 years designing, waymarking and clearing obstructions on public rights of way to produce a beautiful walk that supports tourism and local farming communities. I would have preferred that the route be reinstated on the OS maps rather than receive compensation.”
