Adopt a beach

Looking for something a little different to do this weekend? Why not pitch in at your local beach to help clean up a stretch of Britain’s shoreline. Every year, the Marine Conservation Society runs a nationwide clean-up effort, with volunteers from the Shetlands to Land’s End pitching in to help clear up our beaches and waterways. Timed to coincide with the International Coastal Clean, the Beachwatch Big Weekend has taken place on the third weekend of September every year since 1993. It’s a mucky job, but training and equipment is provided, and you never know what you’ll come across.
