+ Waterproof, easy to use 3 inch touch screen; it has digital elevation maps and an excellent 3D view option. Easy to use route planner
– Zoom in picture quality becomes grainy so small scale maps don’t display as well. Touch screen operation becomes difficult with gloves on. Basic manual.

Verdict: A compact easy to use unit but a stylus would be useful.

I have a Dakota 20( The little brother of the Oregon) and whilst I have no complaints with its outdoor performance it does not link up well with Tracklogs.
Normally when walking I switch on and place waymarks on the machine as I go along. When I use my old monocrhome E trex summit I can then connect to my computer and my route and waymarks will come on screen so that I can save them. The Dakota will show the waymarks but not the route. It will however load walks from the computer. Assuming that the Oregon has the same fault it is not as usefull to Ramblers as any of the E trex range. If you have anyknowledge as to what is going wrong please inform me

Have the Oregon 450 and love it. Works well with Tracklogs v3.15 (my favourite mapping product) and find loading routes to & from the Oregon very straightforward
