As someone who walks constantly on both business and pleasure, I appreciated the way this pack managed a generous 45L size in a relatively compact space, but with a profile that doesn't look too daft for just a bottle of water and an apple. It's a sturdily made, well-padded piece of kit with various adjustables and shoehorned-in pockets, space for a hydration system and other bells and whistles - quite literally, as one of the strap clips doubles as a device to alert mountain rescuers or irritate dogs with. One niggle is that the back system, while comfortable, is more complicated and noticeably more sweaty than on the cheapo own-brand daypack I've been using for years.
