Competition sponsorship and prize:
Photographer David Lewins has 25 years of experience in landscape photography, and is a firm believer that that ‘Getting it Right’ in the camera is the most important stage in producing good photography. And you’ll start taking pictures straight away with both group and individual tuition and advice throughout the day. We’ll cover basic composition, correct exposure, the use of filters and the use of your camera settings. http://www.ramblersholidays.co.uk/page/the-peak-district
There are likely to be some early starts and late afternoon sessions to catch the early morning light and the hills as the sun sets, and ascend the rocky precipice of High Tor on wooded paths leading between Matlock Bath and the nearby larger town of Matlock. Or wander through the picturesque towns of Bakewell and Ashford-in-the-Water, take in the panoramic views from Monsal Head and encounter Britain’s industrial heritage at Cromford, the site of Arkwright’s innovative water powered cotton mill which kick- started the industrial revolution.
We can walk on part of the High Peak Trail, an old railway line that closed in 1967 or travel by steam train to Rowsley, before walking back through the limestone country with impressive views over the dales. You may also find time to visit Chatsworth, the magnificent ancestral home of the Dukes of Devonshire.
Back at the hotel, there will be some tips on basic processing of your images in your computer for both digital SLR users and for those with simpler point and shoot cameras.
Anyone can buy a camera, push the button and come up with a reasonable picture. Here we aim to show you how to create something in a way you’ll want to enjoy viewing it again and again.
