Cool Camping Cookbook
Jonathan Knight et al £12.95
I've always believed that a good cookbook should make you hungry and a good guidebook make you want to run out the door and explore. This made me want to do both. Recipes are easy to follow, if not leaning a little towards cookery for idiots; does anyone really not know how to cook porridge? As for needing a recipe for sausage on a stick (apparently it's all in the stick)... But then I do like the casual handful of this and a bit of that approach. Favourites were the campfire calzone, paneer, vegetable kebabs and paella. In fact, paella is my favourite outdoor dish after witnessing it being cooked to mouth-watering perfection high up in the Pyrenees. Some may find its flippant style off-putting, but taken with a pinch of salt this is a great fun introduction to outdoor cooking. No more freeze-dried after reading this, eh?
