Best walking boot / shoe
Gold: Scarpa
Silver: Meindl
Bronze: Brasher
You’ve wisely voted Scarpa as your favourite boot. Founded in Italy in1938 by an Englishman and an Italian family of seven brothers, Scarpa is undoubtedly one of the leading mountaineering brands today. My fellow walk gear reviewer, Paul McCarty, swears by his SL leather boots, which are still going strong after years of use and abuse. “I can’t fault them,” he tells me, “they’re a true masterpiece.” Scarpa’s Kailash GTX (£145) is the stand out new addition to their hiking range. A three-season Gortex boot that’s lightweight, durable and offers excellent support, they ooze quality and comfort and are fast becoming my firm favourite. Minnie Burlton
